Teller care
Teller Care is a bedside nurse call system designed for hospitals, enabling patients or their attendants to quickly alert nursing staff when assistance is required. The system consists of a wall-mounted bedside panel with configurable function buttons and an extended handheld controller that can either be docked on the panel or magnetically attached to the bed for convenient access. Nurse call requests are transmitted to a central nurse station, ensuring timely communication between patients and caregivers. Designed for the cost-sensitive Indian healthcare market, the product was developed as a family of multiple functional variants that differed in the number of available buttons and were offered across two distinct product segments featuring different user interfaces: and tactile . Rather than designing, validating, and tooling separate enclosures for each of the 27 product variants across these two segments, the system was developed using the principles of Kachikōgaku (価値工学)[↗] or value engineering. A single modular enclosure was engineered to accommodate all configurations, significantly reducing design complexity, tooling investment, validation effort, and manufacturing costs while enabling a scalable and flexible product platform. This value-engineered approach allowed the team to deliver a comprehensive range of affordable nurse call systems tailored to diverse hospital requirements without compromising usability, functionality, or production efficiency.
